This is not your typical SPCA. They actually have a sanctuary and petting zoo. This is a lot of fun, and they also have a lot of cats and dogs ready for adoption. Visit them at www. http://www.peninsulaspca.com. |

Have you been to the Virginia Living Museum on J Clyde Morris Blvd. in Newport News, Virginia? The Virginia Living Museum is a wonderful little treasure that has a lot of activities for children of all ages. They also now have a planetarium. One year memberships are reasonable, and they host wonderful birthday parties for kids. My daughter had her sixth birthday there. They bring two live animals into a designated birthday room, and everyone gets an admission to see the entire museum during their stay. All of the animals at the museum/zoo are natives of Virginia. Visit them at www.thevlm.org |

This restaurant / mega sports bar is located in downtown Portsmouth at 316 High Street. It was one of the first businesses to help begin the “comeback” of Portsmouth’s Downtown. It is a wonderful place, and I have been there probably ten times. The food is good, reasonable, and the portions are large. Mr. Brown is a local legend, ex-NFL player, ex-professional wrestler, and entrepreneur. Check it out one day for lunch or dinner. Please visit them at www.rogerbrowns.com |
